There are 3 types of unit conversion types in Ax 2012;
- Standard Conversions
- Intra-Class Conversions
- Inter-Class Conversions
Standard Conversions – Once define the conversion between two units, it is applicable against all products. Thing to remember here that conversion can be defined only within the units belong to same Unit class.
Intra-Class Conversions – Here we can define product specific conversion. Once conversion defined here between two units, it is applicable only to that product. Like standard conversion, units should belong to same Unit class for conversion.
Inter-Class Conversions – Conversion can be defined between two units belong to different Unit class. Once conversion defined here between two units, it is applicable only to that product.

Intra & Inter class conversions are still not clear can you explain with example
Hi,
Consider the scenario where you need to convert 1 class of measurement unit such as Litres to Kg both are from different class or say volume to kg. This will be inter class
Intra class would be like converting Grams to Kg.
Hope this helps.
